In 1980 Bishop Stephen Bradley sent me on my first mission trip into Africa. Little did he realize that that trip would place a spark in my life which over the years would become a raging fire – a deep love for Africa and for bringing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to her. But in 2000 the Lord opened doors for me to travel into Africa, visiting Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Rwanda, Kenya, Malawi and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In 2018, in the Cathedral in Lubumbashi I knelt down and dedicated my remaining years to serve Africa. These journals are from the heart, explaining my passion to teach the Bible, the sheer joy of visiting these countries, so I hope you enjoy reading them.
Helen Blakeslee wrote:
“I go to AFRICA not for fame and prominence, but because I am attached to Jesus Christ in a love that knows no sacrifice too great to be made: that men and women everywhere throughout AFRICA may know of and come to posses the wonderful inheritance he has won for them on the Cross. I go to AFRICA because I believe her people to be worthy of the most heroic effort that can be put forth to save them.”
My hero David Livingstone wrote:
“I am a missionary, heart, and soul. God had an only Son and He was a missionary and a physician. I am a poor, poor imitation of Him, or wish to be. In this service I hope to live, in it I wish to die.”
Here then are my journals covering the past years of my trips into Africa.
